Attic
The Story of “Black Mountain Blues”
By Paul F. Wells
collection of Paul Wells

In this issue’s foray into the Attic we turn away from looking at old photographs of musicians and delve into the world of antique music ephemera—miscellaneous, uncategorizable printed items that were not intended to have a long life span. The item at hand is a curious little leaflet about the history of the fiddle tune “Black Mountain Blues,” or, as it is better known, “Black Mountain Rag.”
