Julius Artis “Shag” Stanley, 76, of Dobson, NC, passed away April 20. Best known outside Surry County for his fine guitar playing with Tommy Jarrell, Fred Cockerham, and Oscar Jenkins on the County recording Back Home in the Blue Ridge, Mr. Stanley played his old Martin in a thumb lead style using no picks at all.
