It is with deep regret that I must inform you of
the passing of our friend Theo Lissenberg of
Harlem, Holland. Theo passed away this last Thursday
after a brave two year struggle with cancer. One
of the foremost proponents of American folk music
in Europe, his outstanding ability on any instrument
he could lay a hand and his perfect lead and harmony
singing with the bluegrass group Four Wheel Drive
made him one of the finest performers in Europe.
I’m sure Theo now plays in a heavenly string
band with some of his musical heroes like Tommy Jarrell
and John Hartford, but we are missing him here on
earth as a good friend and wonderful musician. His
death at an age of 54 arrived far too early. All
our thoughts go to his wife Wenda and his son Arjen
and daughter Hester.
