Old-time musician, folklorist, and field recorder Bob Fulcher received the Bess Lomax Hawes National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. During the awards ceremony in Washington, DC, on September 20, 2019, Fulcher was joined in sharing Tennessee traditional music by ballad singer Dan Hicks and fiddler Joseph Decosimo. Tennessee Arts Commission Folklife Director Bradley Hanson writes that Bobby Fulcher’s work “articulat[es] always the elegant connection in human traditions between the physical landscape and the expressive imagination.”
