National Heritage Fellowships

West Virginia old-time fiddler and banjo player John Morris is among the 2020 National Heritage Award Fellows. Also receiving the nation’s highest honor for folk tradition-bearers from the National Endowment for the Arts are Georgia soul singer and songwriter William Bell; New Jersey singer of Armenian folk and liturgical music Onnik Dinkjian; California West African diasporic dancers Zakarya and Naomi Diouf; Iroquois raised beadworker Karen Ann Hoffman of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin; Texas religious dancers los Matachines de la Santa Cruz de la Ladrillera; Nevada nueva canción singer and songwriter Suni Paz; birchbark canoe builder Wayne Valliere of the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe; and California radio producer and radio network builder Hugo N. Morales.
